Every minute, the United States government spends $1.98 million on the military budget. That's a lot of money in just 60 seconds.
AFSC’s "One Minute for Peace" campaign aims to raise that amount for peace, justice, and human dignity. Since money for peace goes farther than money for war, there’s a lot we can do for $1.98 million.

Here’s what we are doing to create and support secure, peaceful communities:
- Assisting Haitians as they build a better future for their country
- Working toward a reconciliation between feuding communities in Aceh, Indonesia
- Defending immigrant rights in Colorado, New Jersey, Miami, and California
- Respecting young people and honoring their lives by providing accurate information on what enlisting in the military really means
- Bring together Somali men, women, and youth together to build toward peaceful solutions to violence and insecurity in Somalia
- Mentoring young people in Portland with training and experience as they become social change activists
AFSC can do all of this—with less than what the military spends in a few minutes.
The American Friends Service Committee listens to communities in need to find ways to help them create their own solutions. We take on hard issues and remain long after the headlines change or the cameras find a new focus.
Please send your gift today and help us fund those sixty seconds for peace! With your help, we will be able to make our goal.
